St. Bernard Abbey in Cullman, Alabama, is such a place. The 30 men who make up the monastery community share life in common, and that includes prayer, work, housing, property, meals, recreation, and more.
We offer lodging to pilgrims who are visiting both the Ave Maria Grotto and the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, Alabama. St. St. Bernard Abbey is located right off of Highway 278, about 4 miles from I-65.
The Monastery is open daily and has a gift shop, retreat center, rooms for overnight guests, dining facilities and more. There is an entrance fee, around $5-7 per person. The Abbey is also home to Saint Bernard Preparatory School, a boarding and day school for grades 7-12.
