This sculpture was commissioned by the Myrtle Hill/Oak Hill Memorial Association. Artist Jerermy Smith created the piece by carving it from a deceased oak tree. The art was completed in May 2023 and welcomes visitors to the top of the hill.
Myrtle Hill Cemetery is the second oldest cemetery in the city of Rome, Georgia. The cemetery is at the confluence of the Etowah River and Oostanaula River and to the south of downtown Rome across the South Broad Street bridge.
Free Admission. Established in 1857, this cemetery on the National Register of Historic Places consists of 32 acres and six levels, where more than 20,000 people are laid to rest. Originally known as Fort Stovall, the site was instrumental in the Siege of Rome during the Civil War.

Myrtle Hill Mausoleum. Its lovely open-air chapel accommodates services for the mausoleum as well as the main cemetery. Completed in December 2013, the mausoleum at historic Myrtle Hill Cemetery is located on Branham Avenue overlooking the confluence of the Coosa, Etowah, and Oostanaula Rivers.
