Sep 23, 2022 · It’s the imposing face you see towering over Curry Village at the end of Yosemite Valley. Half Dome requires permits to hike to and is a long, strenuous, 14-plus-mile hike which involves climbing up a set of steep cables at the end. Sentinel Dome is a much tamer experience.
The views from Sentinel dome are breathtaking. You can see Half Dome and the eastern half of Yosemite Valley on one side, and El Capitan, the Three Brothers, and the western half of Yosemite Valley on the other side. The hike is relatively easy for anyone who is healthy. It's about 2 miles round trip.
