Loveand Love Not opens in sunny Los Angeles smack dab in the middle of the holiday season. We meet Nicky (Francesco D’ Onofrio) and he’s hip deep in his job and women. Nicky is a post coordinator for what looks to be a science fiction show I’d actually watch if it was real. That’s just Nicky’s job, but what he really livesfor is women. Your grandmo...
A deeply felt lead performance by Francesco D’ Onofrio as Nicky. You’ve seen characters like this in movies countless times and you know Nicky’s life isn’t as fulfilling as he’d lead you to believe...In a small handful of scenes, Fabiana Undenio steals the movie away as “Mom”. Without saying a lot, Mom shows you the unspoken history between her and Nicky. You’re not beaten over the head with ex...At 100 minutes, it feels like 15 minutes could have been trimmed and it would have had the sameoverall effect. The character beats are never boring, but it does get bit repetitive.
Love and Love Not doesn’t break any new ground in the romcom/dram genre, but it is a simplestory, well told. Even if you don’t love the movie, you do love the characters.
Recommendations. A cynical philanderer goes home for the holidays, only to be entangled by the woman who broke his heart years ago.
