A divorced writer (Chevy Chase) is mistaken for a bank robber and hides in his ex-wife's house (Goldie Hawn), where she is married to a district attorney (Charles Grodin). Roger Ebert praises the cast and some scenes, but finds the movie lacking in overall success.
Writer Nick Gardenia is kidnapped from his California cliffhouse and forced to rob a bank. Now a fugitive, he seeks help from his ex-wife who is now a public defender and has remarried — to a prosecutor.
