Brideshead Revisited is a 2008 British drama film directed by Julian Jarrold. The screenplay by Jeremy Brock and Andrew Davies is based on the 1945 novel of the same name by Evelyn Waugh, which previously had been adapted in 1981 as the television serial Brideshead Revisited.

Jul 23, 2008 · A film adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's novel about a love triangle involving a painter, a Catholic aristocrat and his sister. Roger Ebert praises the performances, the setting and the themes, but finds the film less inspired than the TV mini-series.
The memoirs of Captain Charles Ryder (Matthew Goode), who is stationed at Brideshead Castle during World War II, and remembers his involvement with the owners of the Brideshead estate: the aristocratic yet Catholic Flyte family, and in particular brother and sister Sebastian (Ben Whishaw) and Julia (Hayley Atwell).
In 2008 Brideshead Revisited was developed into a feature film of the same title, with Emma Thompson as Lady Marchmain, Matthew Goode as Charles Ryder, and Ben Whishaw as Lord Sebastian Flyte. The film was directed by Julian Jarrold and adapted by Jeremy Brock and Andrew Davies.
