Miranda (also known as The Mistress of the Inn) is a 1985 Italian erotic drama film directed by Tinto Brass. It is loosely based on the three-act comedy La locandiera by Carlo Goldoni. [1] [2] According to Filippo Ascione, Miranda was one of Federico Fellini 's favorite films.
Synopsis. Miranda is a sensual tavern owner with a taste for men of all types. Over a year's time, Miranda copes with the death of her husband by enjoying the talents of a different lover for each of the four seasons. All the men are delightful, but which one is the best lover, and who will make a suitable husband?

Over the course of four seasons she meets four men: in Winter the rich old council; in Spring there is the young chauffeur; in Summer the American G.I.; and in Autumn, the servant of the Tavern.
What we do get is plenty of the stuff Brass went on to make his name with, and the film certainly works as a bright and breezy erotic comedy. Serena Grandi is superbly well cast in the lead and Tinto really makes best use of all her assets. The man certainly loved the female form.
