A Cry for Help: The Tracey Thurman Story is a 1989 American made-for-television drama film based on the 1985 ruling Thurman v. City of Torrington. The film stars Nancy McKeon as Tracey; Dale Midkiff as Buck; and Bruce Weitz as Tracey's lawyer, Burton Weinstein.
The pleas of a Torrington, Connecticut, woman for police protection against her physically abusive, estranged husband are ignored. Permanently disfigured, she finally fights back with a lawsuit that results in reforms in police training and responsiveness to domestic violence. Based on a true story.
