After his wife overdoses and dies, Bobby (John Travolta) raises his daughter (Ellie Raab) by himself in Chicago, while she spends her time nursing a dog back to health. Finding a job through his brother-in-law, Cissy (Tito Larriva), Bobby earns money working for the Mafia. However, Cissy, who blames Bobby for his sister's death, sets him up as a fall guy.
