Jul 27, 2022 · Storm Lake is the fourth largest glacial lake in Iowa and is known for boating and fishing. You can fish for channel catfish, black crappie, walleye, white bass, and yellow perch. In fact, we were told that the walleye were biting from the shoreline just a few weeks before our visit.
Parks and Beaches. The city maintains a collection of exceptional parks, including much of the lakefront area. Most of the parks are connected by the LakeTrail multi-use recreational path. Awaysis Park. Chautauqua Park.

A storm suddenly came up and the boats were driven out upon the lake, capsizing and the occupants drowned. The same storm leveled the wigwams and the next morning when the survivors of the tribe left they had in their language named this body of water Storm Lake.

Sunrise Campground offers 103 camping sites with 36 full hook up sites which include water, sewer, electric, cable, fire pit, picnic tables, and a concrete pad. Wifi is available throughout the campground.
