The film is loosely based on real life events of Carl Jung, the founder of analytical psychology, and of Sabina Spielrein. For this film Giuliana De Sio was awarded a David di Donatello for Best Actress.

To identify the causes of her condition, he employs psychoanalytic methods to dig into her sexual past, despite objections by the old-fashioned chief physician.
A psychological drama from Italy starring the one and only Julian Sands, then at the stage of his career when he was making some of his riskiest choices. THE WICKED is unfortunately an obscure and unwieldy potboiler that comes across as an exercise in cod psychology - and has very little to say for itself to boot.
