Oct 24, 2004 · BORN TO BE WILD: Two disaffected bikers (Dennis Hopper, left, and Peter Fonda) head off in search of America in the buddy/road movie "Easy Rider" (1969), which made Jack Nicholson (playing straitlaced lawyer George Hanson, far right) a star. Nobody went to see "Easy Rider" (1969) only once.
"Easy Rider" takes the gang leader (Fonda) and condenses his gang into one uptight archetype (played by director Hopper.) It takes the aimless rebellion of the bike gangs and channels it into specific rejection of the establishment (by which is meant everything from rednecks to the Pentagon to hippies on communes).
Dennis Hopper's Easy Rider is often cited as being an all time classic, and while I don't think this is a great film in terms of technical brilliance, it sums up the era it was made and the tongue in cheek, cynical take on the 'American dream' is both potent and well done.
Wyatt (Peter Fonda) and Billy (Dennis Hopper), two Harley-riding hippies, complete a drug deal in Southern California and decide to travel cross-country in search of spiritual truth.

Easy Rider holds an 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 55 reviews, with an average rating of 7.70/10. The site's consensus states: "Edgy and seminal, Easy Rider encapsulates the dreams, hopes, and hopelessness of 1960s counterculture."
There's some scenes of drugs, violence, possibly sex and nudity and some bizarre moments but that doesn't ruin the film. Easy Rider is a 1969 classic of a movie with excellent performances by Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper and Jack Nicholson and the motorbikes are cool too.
