Jan 3, 2018 · The Melancholy Fantastic (2016) has Melanie Crow living in a secluded house with a life size doll she has created. Her mother has recently committed suicide and it becomes more and more clear as the film progresses that Melanie has transferred her grief and sadness into the doll.
Melanie has fallen deep into an unhealthy melancholy mental state, conversing with a creepy doll. She has trouble caring for herself. She befriends Dukken (Robin Lord Taylor) the town Goth who she ignored in school.
