Shadows is a drama film about race relations and jazz music in New York City, directed by John Cassavetes and starring his wife Gena Rowlands. The film was shot in 1957 and reworked in 1959, and won the Critics Award at the Venice Film Festival in 1960.
A drama about interracial friendships and relationships in Beat-Era New York City, with a jazz-scored soundtrack and no script. The film was re-shot in 1959 with new actors, but a rare copy of the original version was discovered in 2002.
