Brie Larson's Carol Danvers returned to the big screen for the final MCU film of 2023. The superhero team-up movie, the thirty-third in Marvel's ongoing series, is a continuation of 2019's Captain Marvel movie and 2022's Ms. Marvel TV series.
Disney has yet to make an official announcement regarding The Marvels streaming release date, though we know it will eventually be released on Disney+, rather than Netflix or HBO Max.
As for a potential release date, we can look to 2023's two previous MCU films: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 both came to Disney Plus 89 days after their theatrical debuts. Should Disney follow suit here, The Marvels would come to streaming around February 7, 2024.
The Marvels is a sequel to 2019's Captain Marvel and the third movie in the MCU's Phase 5. Here's the official synopsis:
Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilised universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan, Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team-up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as The Marvels.
