Harry Powell (Richard Chamberlain) is a serial killer who seduces and then murders single women. His latest target is the widow Willa Harper (Diana Scarwid). Her husband robbed a bank and hid the money on their property before he was caught and executed, and Powell wants to find it. He marries Willa, hoping she'll know where the money is hidden.
