The stories of two young Indians coming of age comprise this engaging film. In the first tale, Ratan (Chandana Banerjee) is an orphaned girl living in a poor village. When a poet from the city (Anil Chatterjee) becomes the village postmaster, a relationship blossoms between the two as he teaches Ratan how to read.
