Looking up Newspapers.com, it did get a theatrical release in Texas and Alabama in late 1988. Here’s an ad from Fort Worth, TX, 25th September 1988. I’ll see if I can find any information about a home video release.

The Passage is a 1979 British action-war film directed by J. Lee Thompson and starring Anthony Quinn, James Mason, Malcolm McDowell and Patricia Neal. The film is based upon the 1976 novel Perilous Passage by Bruce Nicolaysen, who also wrote the screenplay for the film.

The Pass (Russian: Перевал, romanized: Pereval) is a 1988 Soviet animated short film, directed by Vladimir Tarasov and written by Kir Bulychov. It is adapted from the first chapter titled The Pass from Bulychyov's novel The Settlement (printed in English as Those Who Survive ).
