After being arrested for possession of anti-Nazi propaganda, young Sophie Scholl (Lena Stolze) is thrown in jail in Munich. Her cellmate, Else Gebel (Irm Hermann), is incarcerated on similar charges. Else is quite a bit older than Sophie, but they grow close in the five days they are together, comforting each other amid the brutal interrogations of the Nazi investigators.
