Life of a Tanuki
The story begins in late 1960s Japan. A group of tanuki are threatened by a gigantic suburban development project called New Tama, in the Tama Hills on the outskirts of Tokyo. In Pom Poko, most of the animation was done by the young team that previously worked on Only Yesterday. Miyazaki is once again a producer on the film and seemed to have found the formula to galvanize his tanuki production team.
