Outrageous Fortune is a 1987 American comedy film written by Leslie Dixon, directed by Arthur Hiller and starring Shelley Long and Bette Midler. The title is taken from Shakespeare's Hamlet ("...the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune..."). It is the tenth film of Touchstone Pictures.
This crime-laced comedy-drama follows the Wests, a trashy family of career criminals, as they attempt to clean up their act and live life on the straight and narrow. When career criminal Wolfgang West gets put away for four years, his wife Cheryl decides it's time for her family to go straight.
