Journey Beneath the Desert (Italian: Antinea, l'amante della città sepolta) is a 1961 adventure film based on the novel Atlantida by Pierre Benoit.
A helicopter crashes in the desert, and the crew winds up in the underground city of Atlantis and get mixed up in a slave revolt. Three mining employees are marooned in the Sahara after their helicopter crashes in a storm.
This sci-fi fantasy concerns three lost aviators who discover the entrance to Atlantis at a nuclear blast site in the desert. They face many perils and find themselves pitted against an evil Queen. Some stunning visual effects.

While rebellious slaves are confined inside a cage at the mercy of the currents, Fulton and Tinti manage to escape and subsequently battle it out with Nazzari and Volonte', with the former forced to shoot the latter when going against Harareet's wishes not to harm her lover!
Robert, upset by the murder of his friend, is sent to the mines and killed by Pierre, who is under Antinea's spell. Later, Zinah, a slave girl, falls in love with Pierre and helps him escape to the desert before a nuclear bomb is detonated and Atlantis destroyed.
