Blindness is a thriller film based on José Saramago's novel about a society that suffers an epidemic of blindness. The film follows the doctor and his wife, the only ones who can see, as they try to survive in a quarantined asylum and a collapsed city.
The story of Blindness begins on a morning in an unnamed city during rush-hour traffic. As the traffic lights change, a young Japanese professional (Yusuke Iseya) is suddenly struck blind for no apparent reason and blocks all the traffic behind his car.
