Crime and Punishment (French: Crime et châtiment) is a 1935 French crime drama film directed by Pierre Chenal and produced by Michel Kagansky starring Harry Baur, Pierre Blanchar and Madeleine Ozeray. It is an adaptation of the 1866 novel of the same name by Fyodor Dostoevsky.

French adaptation of Fyodor Dostoevsky's famous novel Crime and Punishment. Even if it's French, they kind of go with the heavy Russian feel, along with a touch of German expressionism to get the dark message of murder and guilt across as best they could.
