The Wexner Center for the Arts complex was designed by architects Peter Eisenman of New York in association with Richard Trott of Columbus, along with landscape architect Laurie Olin from Philadelphia.
The Wexner Center for the Arts is the Ohio State University's "multidisciplinary, international laboratory for the exploration and advancement of contemporary art." The Wexner Center is a lab and public gallery, but not an art museum, as it does not collect art.

The Wexner Center provides a diverse array of contemporary arts, including visual arts exhibitions by major artists and emerging talents, films and videos by leading filmmakers of the past and present, and performing arts from around the world.

The 180,000-square-foot Wexner Center combines a red brick, fortress-like tower and a three-dimensional white grid extending through and beyond the building mass with a masonry clad steel frame; the building challenges the visitor to find its connection to the university.
