Cavafy Museum is an apartment museum in center Alexandria, Egypt, which formerly was the residence of the Greek poet Constantine P. Cavafy, where he lived most of his life. Location. The apartment is located near Alexandria Opera House (Fouad St.), in Attarin division, Alexandria.
You can visit the museum Tuesday – Sunday, from 10:00 till 17:00. Cavafy, born in 1863, was well-known and recognized as a significant poet in his own lifetime. Alexandria was then a cosmopolitan city, known, among other things, for its lively night-life.
The Museum contains a wide range of bibliographical material, translations of Cavafy's poetry in 20 languages by 40 different scholars, and most of the 3,000 articles and works written about his poetry.
