Their music often invoked religious imagery dealing with conflict, redemption, punishment, and guilt through David Eugene Edwards's lyrics and the heavy use of traditional bluegrass, gospel, and Appalachian instrumentation cross-bred with rock.
16 Horsepower was a folk-rock band formed in 1992 by David Eugene Edwards and Pascal Humbert. The band released four studio albums and one compilation before breaking up in 2005.
