John McFee (born September 9, 1950) is an American singer, songwriter, guitarist, record producer, and multi-instrumentalist, and long-time member of The Doobie Brothers.
John David McAfee (/ ˈ m æ k ə f iː / MAK-ə-fee; 18 September 1945 – 23 June 2021) was a British-American computer programmer, businessman, and two-time presidential candidate who unsuccessfully sought the Libertarian Party nomination for president of the United States in 2016 and in 2020.
John McFee joined The Doobie Brothers in 1978, bringing his diverse musical background and experience with Van Morrison, Steve Miller, Elvis Costello, and The Grateful Dead. He plays guitar, pedal steel, dobro, mandolin, and fiddle in the band's eclectic style of rock, R&B, country, and bluegrass.
