Saori Yuki is a Japanese singer and actress. She was born as Akiko Yasuda in Kiryū, Gunma, Japan and raised in Yokohama. She started her singing career with her older sister Sachiko (b. 1941) as a child singer. In 1965 she debuted with the single "Hitchhike Musume (Hitchhiking girl)" on King Records (Japan) as Akiko Yasuda.
Saori Yuki, widely considered to be the “Barbra Streisand of Japan”, released her debut album in Japan in 1969 and has gone on to make over 30 albums in her 42-year career. Yuki discovered Pink Martini after the band covered her song “Taya Tan” for their 2007 album Hey Eugene!
