M. Ward. Matthew Stephen "M." Ward (born October 4, 1973) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist from Glendale, California. Ward's solo work is a mixture of folk and blues -inspired Americana analog recordings. He has released 10 studio albums since 1999, primarily through the independent label Merge Records.
The whole program has a lovely open house feeling, reminiscent of pre-pandemic house parties. It was at such parties in San Luis Obispo in the mid-1990s where I first heard M. Ward’s music. He was still a college student, writing his first songs and learning the vocabulary he uses today with such calm assurance.
