On September 5, 2003, From First To Last parted ways with Joey Antillion, who was subsequently replaced by Jon Weisberg for the band's remaining tour dates for that year. On November 13, 2003, the band announced that they had signed to Epitaph Records, and said they were planning on recording their debut album in January 2004.
It featured Travis Richter, Derek Bloom, Matt Good, Joey Antillion and Chad Crews. After changing the name to The Color of Violence then recording and releasing an EP and touring in early 2003, all members but Crews put most of their attention into From First to Last (then under the name "First too Last" [2] ).
This early incarnation of the Color of Violence was a grind/noise band with members Derek Bloom, Travis Richter, Matt Good, Joey Antillion and Chad Crews. The group quickly changed the name to the Color of Violence, and put out a self made 3 song EP and saw one tour in early 2003, which went down in history as most efficient use of a '97 Corolla.

The band formed in 1999 under the name First too Last. In 2004, 15-year-old Sonny Moore joined the band. The first album, Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Bodycount, was released on June 29, 2004.
