Jul 23, 2022 · Deep Purple guitarist Steve Morse has announced that he is stepping away from the band on a permanent basis. In April, Morse announced that he'd be going on hiatus from Deep Purple to look after his wife Janine, who is battling cancer, but would not be leaving the band.
Steve J. Morse is an American guitarist, best known as the founder of the Dixie Dregs and as the guitarist for Deep Purple from 1994 to 2022. Morse has also enjoyed a successful solo career and was a member of the group Kansas in the mid-1980s. Most recently, Morse became a member of the supergroup Flying Colors.
(born July 28, 1954, Hamilton, Ohio, USA) Superb guitarist and bandleader in his own right, Steve went to Miami University to study classical and jazz guitar. He formed The Dixie Dregs in 1975 with bassist Andy West. Between 1982 and 1986, readers of ‘Guitar Player’ magazine voted Steve Morse ‘Best Guitarist’ for five years in a row.
