Erik Keith Brann (born Rick Davis[citation needed]; August 11, 1950 – July 25, 2003), also known as Erik Braunn, was an American guitarist with the 1960s acid rock band Iron Butterfly. He was featured on the band's greatest hit, the 17-minute In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (1968), recorded when he was 17.
Jan 16, 2017 · Erik Brann was inducted in Rock and Roll Paradise on July 25, 2003, having passed from cardiac arrest at age 52. “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” was released as a 45 in the US and other territories. The 17-minute original version was edited down to 2:53.
The two remaining musicians, faced with the possibility of the record not being released, quickly found replacements in bassist Lee Dorman and 17-year-old guitarist Erik Brann (also known as "Erik Braunn" and "Erik Braun") and resumed touring.
