Baldwin joined the family iron and steel business, then entered the House of Commons in 1908 as the Member for Bewdley, succeeding his father Alfred.
After graduating from Cambridge University, Baldwin joined the family iron-mongering business. He became Conservative MP for Bewdley in 1908, a seat his father had held.
He received his schooling from St. Michael’s and the Harrow School and then went onto the Trinity College, University of Cambridge to study history. He was in the college’s debate team (Magpie & Stup), but was asked to resign as he never spoke up and he returned home with a third-class degree.
