General Thomas Gage (10 March 1718/19 – 2 April 1787) was a British Army general officer and colonial official best known for his many years of service in North America, including his role as British commander-in-chief in the early days of the American Revolution.

Major General Thomas Gage was commander-in-chief of British forces in North America and governor of Massachusetts Bay during some of the most chaotic years of the American Revolution. Born in late 1719 or early 1720, Gage attended Westminster School in central London from 1728 to 1736.
Thomas Gage was a British general best known for his role as the military governor of Massachusetts Bay and commander of British forces at the onset of the American Revolutionary War. He ordered the British marches to Lexington and Concord in April 1775, which ignited the Revolutionary War following the battles there.
