Former President Donald Trump is sitting for a virtual interview Monday with probation officials ahead of his sentencing for falsifying business records. Attorney and CBS News campaign reporter Katrina Kaufman is in Florida, where the former president is virtually attending the meeting.

Former President Donald Trump underwent a 30-minute interview with a probation officer in advance of his July 11 sentencing on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records.

The latest CBS News poll, which comes as President Biden ended his D-Day trip to France and former President Trump campaigned in two battleground states, shows the two candidates in a virtual tie in the presidential race. A majority of likely voters said in the poll Trump's conviction is not a major factor in the election.

The former president is scheduled to speak virtually at an event hosted by The Danbury Institute, which says it believes “that the greatest atrocity facing our generation is abortion."

The pledge on tips, revealed at a sweltering outdoor rally in Las Vegas where temperatures reached 100 degrees, adds one more detail to a Trump tax plan that has included vague pledges of tax relief to middle-income workers and small businesses. Trump said he would "do that right away, first thing in office," and noted in prepared remarks that he would seek legislation in Congress to make the change. President Biden is returning from France before heading to Italy for a meeting with G-7 allies. Meanwhile, former President Trump is back on the campaign trail following his convictions in New York. Skyler Henry has the latest.

His chief of staff at the time, John Kelly, a retired general, attended instead, in light rain. Without mentioning Trump by name, Biden said he would not have come to Normandy without also visiting Aisne-Marne. "America showed up. America showed up to stop the Germans, America showed up to make sure that they did not prevail, and America shows up when we're needed," Biden said.

For the first time since he was convicted in his New York criminal trial, former President Donald Trump hit the campaign trail in the battleground state of Arizona. Trump is teasing a vice presidential pick, saying he may announce his running mate during the party convention next month.
