Theodore Ralph Kulongoski ( / ˌkʊlənˈɡɒski / KUUL-ən-GOSS-kee; born November 5, 1940) is an American politician, judge, and lawyer who served as the 36th Governor of Oregon from 2003 to 2011. [1] . After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and, on returning from duty in Southeast Asia, spent a few years as a truck driver and a bricklayer in a steel mill in Alton, Illinois.
