Charles Richard Fox (1796–1873) was one of the most important and prominent collectors of ancient coins of his time. His collection began with a trip to Asia Minor in 1820, and grew extensively in both quantity and quality with purchases from the London and Paris coin markets.

General Charles Richard Fox (6 November 1796 – 13 April 1873) was a British army general, and later a politician. Fox was born at Brompton, the illegitimate son of Henry Richard Vassall-Fox, 3rd Baron Holland, through a liaison with Lady Webster, whom Lord Holland would later marry.
