Gregory Francis Murphy (born March 5, 1963) is an American politician and urologist representing North Carolina's 3rd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2019. He served as a representative in the North Carolina General Assembly from 2015 to 2019.
Rep. Gregory F. Murphy, M.D. is serving his third term in Congress, representing North Carolina’s Third Congressional District. The district covers much of Eastern North Carolina including New Bern, Jacksonville, Washington, and the Outer Banks.
As the only practicing surgeon in Congress, Murphy is also a Co-Chair of the House Republican Doctors Caucus and Co-Chair of the Academic Medicine Caucus. Dr. Greg Murphy, originally from Raleigh, graduated magna cum laude from Davidson College in 1985.
