Jermaine Dupri is one of the top factors in Atlanta's long-standing contention as the capital city of contemporary R&B and rap. He shot to prominence as a teenaged songwriter/producer in 1992 with Kriss Kross' number one pop hit "Jump." Within a year, Dupri established So So Def, home to platinum acts Xscape, Da Brat, and Jagged Edge, and he was soon behind number one pop hits for Usher and Monica. By the end of the '90s, Dupri had a platinum album of his own, Life in 1472 (1998), featuring "Money Ain't a Thang." He topped the chart repeatedly in the following decade with hits including Mariah Carey's Grammy-winning "We Belong Together." Inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2018, Dupri has built on his legacy in the 2020s with work beside Anthony Hamilton, Ari Lennox, and Curren$y. Wikipedia
