Dec 8, 2023 · Naugatuck State Forest. Over 5,000 acres in five different “blocks”, the Naugatuck State Forest is spread over eight different towns. It was all the dream of the local industrialist Harris Whittemore, who bought up several parcels of land in the 1920s to give to the state.

The path through the forest is enjoyable and has nice waterfalls. You can collect shiny rocks and get some good pictures. The main issue is the entrance, which is confusing as one neighbor has decided to place threatening posters.
The Naugatuck State Forest is home to the Blue Blazed Naugatuck Trail and also the Seymour Reservoirs. There is parking at Andrasko Rd, the west entrance of the hike. There is only room for 2 cars at this entrance.
