McConnell Springs is a 26-acre natural pocket within an industrial area. The park is home to unique karst features, such as the sinking artesian springs that give the park its name. McConnell Springs is also a historic site celebrated as the location where Lexington was named in 1775.
McConnell Springs is a twenty-six acre natural park located at the historic springs where the city of Lexington, Kentucky was named. The park is a non-profit organization in partnership with the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Division of Parks and Recreation.
Beautifully and well maintained natural park into far from everything blends history and naturalism. Plenty of shade and benches along the trails. Bring water and there is a visitors center with restrooms, exhibits, and souvenirs at the entrance to the park. A quiet place to enjoy the song of birds, views of water, and a walk.
