George of Kunštát and Poděbrady (23 April 1420 – 22 March 1471), also known as Poděbrad or Podiebrad ( Czech: Jiří z Poděbrad; German: Georg von Podiebrad ), was the sixteenth King of Bohemia, who ruled in 1458–1471. He was a leader of the Hussites, but moderate and tolerant toward the Catholic faith.

As head of the conservative Utraquist faction of Hussite Protestants, he established himself as a power when Bohemia was still under Habsburg rule, and he was thereafter unanimously elected king by the estates.

Geography. Poděbrady is located about 7 kilometres (4 mi) southeast of Nymburk and 39 km (24 mi) east of Prague. It lies in the Central Elbe Table lowland within the Polabí region. The Elbe River flows through the town. South of the town is located Poděbrady Lake.
