Menpehtyre Ramesses I (or Ramses) was the founding pharaoh of ancient Egypt's 19th Dynasty. The dates for his short reign are not completely known but the timeline of late 1292–1290 BC is frequently cited [2] as well as 1295–1294 BC. [3]
Ramses I was the founder of the 19th dynasty of ancient Egypt. He became the coregent of Horemheb, the last king of the 18th dynasty, who died without an heir. Already of advanced age upon ascending the throne, Ramses reigned about one year and four months with his son Seti I as coregent.
