Ernst Margrave “The Brave” von Babenberg. Ernest the Brave (1027 – 10 June 1075) was Markgraf der Ostmark (Margrave of Austria)from 1055 to his death, following his father Adalbert. He increased the territory of Austria by amalgamating the Bohemian and Hungarian marches into Austria.
He married Adelheid von Wettin-Eilenburg about 1061, in Tulln, Lower Austria, Austria. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 2 daughters. He died on 10 June 1075, at the age of 48, and was buried in Stift, Melk, Lower Austria, Austria.
