Jennifer Anne Doudna ForMemRS (/ ˈ d aʊ d n ə /; born February 19, 1964) is an American biochemist who has done pioneering work in CRISPR gene editing, and made other fundamental contributions in biochemistry and genetics. Doudna was one of the first women to share a Nobel in the sciences.

The outbreak motivated me to pivot to RNA interference, a phenomenon that plays a fundamental role in a number of important functions, including how the human immune system fights off viral infections. RNA interference silences unwanted genetic messages, thereby blocking the production of the proteins they code for.
