Richard Bright (born Sept. 28, 1789, Bristol, Gloucestershire, Eng.—died Dec. 16, 1858, London) was a British physician who was the first to describe the clinical manifestations of the kidney disorder known as Bright’s disease, or nephritis. Bright graduated in medicine from the University of Edinburgh in 1813.
