May 15, 2024 · Cheers is a popular American television comedy series that appeared on NBC for 11 seasons (1982–93), ranking in the top 10 of the year-end Nielsen ratings seven times. A mixture of comedy and soap-opera romance, it followed the lives of the staff and patrons of Cheers, a fictional bar in Boston.
In "Cheers Fouls Out" (1990), he plays for Cheers's basketball team against rival bar Gary's Olde Towne Tavern. McHale is told by Sam Malone that the game is a charity match; when he finds out that it is a lie, he tells Sam that he will play if they donate the winnings to charity. During one of the games, he is injured but quickly recovers.
S1.E12 ∙ The Spy Who Came in for a Cold One. Thu, Dec 16, 1982. An Englishman enters the bar claiming to be a spy, but Diane exposes him as a fraud. Everyone is mad at her for humiliating him just to show off her own intellect, until he plays a joke on her.
