Jury service is an integral part of the trial process, as well as our democratic form of government. It is an important civic responsibility which ensures the community plays a crucial role in providing justice in both civil and criminal disputes.
Your jury summons provides the date, time, and place to report for jury duty. Check in with the jury staff when you arrive. Bring reading materials to occupy your time. While efforts will be made to reduce delays and to avoid long waiting periods, some waiting time should be anticipated.
By serving jury duty, you are participating in the administration of justice. There is no more valuable service that a citizen can perform in support of our democratic Government than the good faith performance of jury duty.

North Carolina has a list of specific excuses that can be used to be exempt from reporting for jury duty, including excuses for elected official, breastfeeding, age, police, medical worker and firefighter.
REPORTING INFORMATION. Upon entering the Justice Center, you will go through a security check. Per Court Security and Access Control Policy & Procedures section 2 (A) (viii) Jurors, with approved summons or juror badges, will be permitted to bring food and beverages through the security checkpoint, also subject to inspection.
