Davy rescues the Princess Bettina of the Duchy of Harmonica from drowning. When he goes to get his jacket back, the Monkees find out that her uncle, Archduke Otto, is trying to dispose of Bettina so he can become king himself.

The Monkees were originally a fictional band created for the NBC television sitcom of the same name. Dolenz, Jones, Nesmith and Tork were cast to portray members of a band in the sitcom. Music credited to the Monkees appeared in the sitcom and was released on LPs and singles beginning in 1966, and the sitcom aired from 1966 to 1968.
The Monkees travel to England when Davy inherits the estate of Young Lord Malcolm Kibee on the condition that he lives there for the next five years. Davy has no intention of staying, but does not want the Lord's nephew, Lance Kibee, to sell it to a land developer either.
